Foster With Us
Shelter life can be stressful, especially for older pets, babies, or those with medical needs. Some pets may need a little extra time before finding their forever homes. To give these animals the best chance to thrive, we place them in caring foster homes whenever possible. We make it easy to help. The shelter provides all necessary veterinary care, medications, food, and supplies; you provide the love and nurturing home environment. Interested in making a difference and helping us save lives? Read to Me Program
The Cherokee County Animal Shelter invites readers and their families to join our Read to Me program. This is a fun way to build reading skills while helping animals feel calm and comforted. Children can sign up to receive a punch card and earn rewards as they read (See a staff member for a punch card). Families are welcome to visit during regular hours and read to available animals anytime. We have books available, or you’re welcome to bring your own favorites.
